THE UNENDING STORY OF THE METADARS:

The Metadars started off as a class of Evolutionary Psychology students whose teacher got fired from the university.  With their teacher gone, the students began meeting on their own, once-a-month, in somebody's apartment.  At these meetings they discussed Evolutionary Psychology and its meaning in their own lives.  When the group grew too large to meet in an apartment, they started meeting at the public library.  Eventually their old teacher joined them and the community of pacifist scientists known as the Metadars was born.

There are countless episodes in the unending story of the Metadars.  "The Ethics of Luck" is the umbrella name given to the first few dozen episodes composed by Michael Laschober as an "audience sing-along" folk opera.  In the future other people will create other episodes with other names for other media.  But no matter how many people create how many episodes, there will always be room for more.  The challenge of the Metadars is to find ways to accept the world as a family.  It’s an unending challenge befitting an unending story.

THE "ETHICS OF LUCK" STORYLINE:

The first few episodes follow the adventures of a young woman named "Emma".  She is the adopted daughter of a community of Metadars that live in a monastery along the Katy Trail in central Missouri.  She has run away to Enemia, a hostile country, to join a young man with whom she had become pen-pals.  His declared ambition is to devote his life to teaching the poor.  But, as pen-pals sometimes do, he has not fully disclosed his situation – a situation that will make his ambition difficult to achieve.

The middle episodes go back to an earlier time – a time before Emma was born.  Emma tells the story of how the Metadars first got started.  A class of Evolutionary Psychology students formed a social group after their professor was fired from the university.  This group met once-a-month in a member's apartment.  Eventually their old Professor joined them and they grew into an active community.  It is during this period that they wrestled with issues and chiseled-out principles that would guide them into the future.

The final episodes return to the present time as Emma grapples with her new life in Enemia.
